Myanmar - Pope establishes new diocese in Myanmar
Pope Benedict XVI has erected a new diocese in Myanmar. The Diocese of Kalay was erected on May 22 with territory taken from Hakha diocese, making it a suffragan of Mandalay archdiocese. The Pope appointed Bishop Felix Lian Khen Thang, the auxiliary Hakha bishop, as the first Bishop of Kalay.
The new diocese is situated east of Myitkyina diocese and south of Mandalay archdiocese and Hakha diocese. Kalay diocese has a population of 1.3 million, of which 49,000 are Catholics. It has 20 parishes, 26 diocesan priests, 84 Religious, 29 seminarians and 120 catechists. St Mary’s Church in Kalay will be the diocesan cathedral, according to the Holy See’s Bulletin.

မတ္လ (၂၂) ၂၀၁၀ ရက္ေန႕ တြင္ ပုပ္ရဟန္းမင္းႀကီး ဘက္နဒက္ (၁၆) က ျမန္မာႏိုင္ငံ၏ ဂိုဏ္းအုပ္သာသနာသစ္တစ္ခုကို ေၾကာ္ျငာခဲ့ပါသည္။ံ ျမန္မာႏိုင္ငံ ကက္သလစ္ဂိုဏ္းအုပ္/ဂိုဏ္းခ်ဳပ္ သာသနာမ်ားထဲတြင္ ဟားခါးသာသနာမွ ကေလးကက္သလစ္ ဂိုဏ္းအုပ္သာသနာသစ္ တစ္ခုကို ခြဲထုတ္ၿပီး ျမန္မာႏိုင္ငံ၏ ဂိုဏ္းအုပ္/ခ်ဳပ္သာသနာသစ္တစ္ခု အျဖစ္ တရား၀င္ တည္ေထာင္ေပးခဲ့ပါသည္။ ယခု ကေလးကက္သလစ္ဂိုဏ္းအုပ္သာသနာ အသစ္၏ ဆရာေတာ္ကို ဟားခါးလက္ေထာက္ဆရာေတာ္ Bishop Felix Lian Khen Thang အား ကေလးဂိုဏ္းအုပ္ဆရာေတာ္၏ ပထမဆံုးေသာ ဆရာေတာ္အျဖစ္ ခန္႕အပ္ခဲ့ပါသည္။
ကေလးကက္သလစ္ဂိုဏ္းအုပ္သာသနာ အသစ္သည္ အေရွ႕ဘက္တြင္ ျမန္ႀကီးနားဂိုဏ္းအုပ္သာသနာ၊ ေတာင္ဘက္တြင္ မႏေလး ဂိုဏ္းခ်ဳပ္သာသနာႏွင့္ ဟားခါးသာသနာဂိုဏ္းအုပ္သာသနာတို႕ တည္ရွိပါသည္။ ကေလးဂိုဏ္းအုပ္သာသနာသစ္တြင္ လူဦးေရ 1.3 မီလီလ်ံတြင္ ကက္သလစ္ဘာသာ၀င္ဦးေရ 49000 ေယာက္ရွိၿပီး ဘုန္းေတာ္ႀကီး 20 ပါး၊ သာသနာအုပ္စု ၂၆ အုပ္စု၊ သီလရွင္ ၈၄ ပါး၊ ရဟန္းျဖစ္သင္ေက်ာင္းသား 29 ဦးႏွင့္ Catechist အဖြဲ႕၀င္ 120 ဦးရွိပါသည္။ ကေလးၿမိဳ႕ရွိ စိန္ေမရီ ဘုရားေက်ာင္းကုိ ကယ္သီဒယ္ အျဖစ္ထားရွိမည္ျဖစ္ေၾကာင္း The Holy See စာေစာင္တြင္ ေဖာ္ျပထားပါသည္။
